New Third-Party Assessment Highlights Potential Economic Benefits of Proposed Beacon AI Project in Saint John

$5.8 billion in investment. Good jobs. New opportunities for local businesses. And millions in new revenue to support our community.

A new third-party economic impact assessment prepared by Jupia Consultants Inc. highlights the potential economic benefits of the proposed Beacon AI project in Saint John.

Key economic findings:

  • The largest private-sector capital investment in New Brunswick’s history.
  • An estimated $25 million annually in direct property taxes for Saint John.
  • An estimated $18 million annually in direct provincial property taxes.
  • 1,200 to 1,300 workers at peak construction, and approximately 210 direct ongoing jobs, with an estimated 373 full-time equivalent jobs across New Brunswick when supply-chain and household-spending effects are included.

That annual municipal tax contribution alone is equivalent to nearly 16% of Saint John’s total 2026 property tax revenue, creating new capacity to invest in the services, infrastructure and priorities that make our community stronger.

For Saint John, the opportunity goes well beyond the initial investment. The proposed project could strengthen our tax base, create well-paying employment, generate new opportunities for local suppliers, and help position our region to compete for future investment in digital infrastructure and AI.

It’s the kind of transformational investment that can create economic benefits today while building new opportunities for Saint John’s future.
