Hospitality Industry Turns Out To Salute It’s Own

It had been a long time in the making but the region’s hospitality and tourism professionals were out for an
evening of celebration, and celebrate they did. A total of 22 winners went home with honours, in the form of
original artwork by Saint John artist Adam Gavel, as Hospitality Saint John Inc. hosted their Tourism Awards
Gala at the Delta hotel in Saint John on Thursday.

The annual event, curtailed for the past two years by the pandemic, began with a spotlight on past winners of
Loved The Service Awards. Handed out to front line staff nominated by their customers for outstanding service,
the ‘LTS’ awards were the one category the association continued to present – albeit privately – throughout the
pandemic. Previously announced winners from 2020 and 2021 were invited to join in this year’s celebration.
Over the course of the evening ten more winners, the class of 2022, were introduced, including Nikita Joshi
from Pizza Delight Loch Lomond and Tim Merzetti of Lock Stock & Barrels, who both picked up their third
win in the category.

Top accommodations providers, based on Trip Advisor rankings, were recognized in two categories and the
“Locals Know” awards for top restaurant and attraction in the region were handed out to operators selected
based on local social media campaigns.

Community organizers were recognized in three categories; Meetings & Conventions, Festivals, and Sporting
Events. And Port Saint John honoured Danielle Timmons as Cruise Champion and presented the cruise-focused
Rising Tide Award to the AREA 506 Waterfront Container Village – the evening’s big winner, also taking the
top attraction award and collecting top festival honours for their summer concert series.

The program wrapped up with the presentation of the Economic Driver award to the 2022 Memorial Cup and
the Legacy award to Sculpture Saint John.

The Hospitality Saint John Tourism Awards are presented annually by HSJ, this year with the support of
sponsors including Envision Saint John, Port Saint John, Encore, Delta Hotels by Marriott Saint John, the
Province of New Brunswick and The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce.
