Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency Announces New Chair of Board of Directors

SAINT JOHN: Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency is pleased to announce that Al Walker has been appointed as Chair to the Agency’s Board of Directors effective September 1, 2021.  Al succeeds Cynthia Goodwin who was appointed as Transition Board Chair in September 2020. 

Under Cynthia’s stewardship as the inaugural Chair, Envision Saint John opened its doors on January 1, 2021 with a new regional collaborative model.  The Agency is driving an innovative approach to growth -representing Saint John, Quispamsis, Rothesay, Grand Bay-Westfield, Hampton and St. Martins.

“It has been an honour to serve our region as the Transition Board Chair and collaborate with other volunteer community leaders to enable this significant step in how we drive growth for the Saint John region,” says Cynthia Goodwin, who will now serve as Past-Chair.   

“On behalf of the regional investors and the entire team we thank Cynthia for her contributions,” says Paulette Hicks, CEO of Envision Saint John.. “The past 12 months have been a heavy lift for our Board of Directors and with Cynthia’s leadership, the Agency has the necessary foundation and is well positioned to attract people, tourists, investment and business to the region.”

A resident of Hampton, Al Walker, FCPA, CPA, has over 25 years’ experience and is a recognized leader in taxation and corporate finance. He has held previous Chair and Board roles from several local, regional, and national organizations and commissions.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue to work with and help Envision Saint John as it begins to execute on a four-year strategy to bring new people and new investments to the region,” Walker says.  

As the inaugural Treasurer and Chair of Envision Saint John’s Finance Committee, the team is confident that Al’s stewardship will lead to great things for the organization and entire region.

“Al is a recognized leader with extensive local, provincial and national Board experience. We are excited to continue to work with him on key objectives for Saint John and the Towns by the Bay,” says Hicks.
