Public Input Sought for Regional Immigration Strategy
September 16, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAINT JOHN: Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency is working in collaboration with O Strategies and Engaging Matters to develop a comprehensive Regional Immigration Strategy for the Saint John Region.
As part of this effort, the agency is reaching out to residents, including newcomers, to provide valuable insights through an online survey and upcoming in-person dialogue sessions. The agency is looking to gather diverse perspectives, ensuring the region remains a welcoming and inclusive place for all.
The online survey aims to understand the needs, wants, and aspirations of both newcomers and long-standing residents. By identifying gaps in services, support systems, and opportunities, Envision Saint John will use this data to inform actionable recommendations for the region’s Immigration Strategy. The survey includes targeted questions designed to capture the unique roles, experiences, and perspectives of different groups within the community.
In addition to the survey, Envision Saint John is hosting dialogue sessions, where newcomers and long-standing residents can engage in open conversations. These sessions are designed to foster understanding, harness diverse perspectives, and build a sense of community. By facilitating these dialogues, the agency hopes to promote inclusivity and create a shared vision for the future of the region.
"Saint John's growth is directly tied to our ability to welcome and retain talent," said Daniel Rito, Director of Population Growth & Workforce Development. "These information gathering activities are a critical step in understanding how we can better serve newcomers, while also ensuring long-standing residents feel included in this transformative process."
Envision Saint John is committed to fostering collaboration between various community stakeholders to create a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive region.
"Our region’s success is built on the strength of our people, both those who have lived here for generations and those who are just beginning to call the Saint John Region home," said Andrew Beckett, CEO, Envision Saint John. "We are excited to engage with the public through this process and use their input to shape and move the Regional Immigration Strategy forward.”
